Short Session, Tall Order: Public Schools First NC
“Hold Them Accountable” Kickoff!
You are invited to join Public Schools First NC on Sunday, April 19th 4-6pm in downtown Raleigh at the home of local historian and public schools champion, Matthew Brown.
Matthew is opening his beautiful Oakwood home to help us “kickoff” the beginning of the NCGA’s “short” session (April 21st) and support our advocacy work. During the short session, we are determined to keep legislators accountable and voters informed about the funding atrocities against public education including poor teacher pay, the inadequate resources provided for the critical mental health services needed by our youth, and the current withholding of funding local school districts need to accelerate student academic achievement (specifically reading and math).
Your ticket includes a tour of the entire home with Matthew, where you can learn about the history and restoration of the house known as Lamar Hall. It’s truly an unforgettable experience that you don’t want to miss! Read more about the Lamar House.
Public Schools First NC leads the work in educating the public about what’s happening with education funding and policy. This work ramps up during legislative sessions and 2026 is especially important as it’s an election year! We need informed “Pro-Public Education Voters” to vote in November. Your kind tax-deductible donation will help sustain our work at this critical time for public schools.
